Liz Truss set to become UK next prime minister after Boris Johnson's resignation.

The UK's Conservative Party announced Monday that it had chosen Liz Truss as its new leader.

She is now in line to be confirmed as the country's premier minister.

Truss beat rival Rishi Sunak in a leadership election

The 180,000 dues-paying members of ruling party were permitted to vote.

Truss said it was an "honor" to be elected and paid tribute to her "friend" Boris Johnson
